Welcome! Whether you are contemplating your or your childís first piano lesson, returning to the piano, or continuing your study, congratulations on your decision to make music a part of your life!
Students of all ages and experience levels are welcome at my studio. My goal is to help each student grow as a musician and to nurture his or her love of music. Lessons focus on topics such as performance, healthy playing techniques, music reading, harmony and chord symbols, improvisation, ear training, and music theory. Students can study different styles of music, such as jazz, classical and popular music, and lessons are tailored to each individualís needs and goals. Students have the option of preparing for ABRSM or Trinity graded music exams, or studying music without taking exams.
I have been teaching piano since 1993 and hold a Master of Music degree from DePaul University, in Chicago. I am an encouraging, patient and experienced teacher, as well as an experienced performer. I am a PVG Scheme member (Disclosure Scotland) and have successfully completed the LSIS safeguarding course.
Lessons take place at my home studio in Dumbarton, Scotland, on my Grotrian-Steinweg grand piano. There is easy street parking, and it is a short walk from Dalreoch station. Additionally, lessons via Skype or a similar platform are available for adult students.
